D230 students win prestigious art awards

Celebrating the original voices and technical skill of award-winning student artists

Consolidated High School District 230 student artists recently showcased their creativity and talent and competed against hundreds of students from dozens of high schools in the Regional Scholastic Arts competition and the Southwest Suburban Conference (SWSC) Art Festival.

Jurors of the Scholastic Arts competition look for works that exemplify the Awards’ core values: originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. They celebrate work that expresses an authentic perspective and stands out from classroom assignments and social media trends.
The SWSC Festival featured a student art exhibition and interactive workshop sessions, along with professional guest-artist speakers. The Festival’s Best of School award recognizes the single most outstanding work from that specific school based on technical skill, creativity, and the student's personal artistic voice.
