Beloved husband of Patricia Nicholson (nee Ryan). Loving father of Meara(16), Michael(14) and Shay(11). Son of James Nicholson (deceased) and Dalia Mardon (deceased). Son-in-law to Michael J. Ryan D.D.S. and Carol Ryan. Brother to Paul Boyev, M.D., Vytas Boyev and James Nicholson. Uncle, brother-in-law, coach, teacher, scientist, colleague and friend to many. Taken too soon from us and to be sorely missed.

Dan grew up in Oak Forest and Tinley Park. He attended Tinley Park High School. He then attended University of Illinois , Champaign, Urbana, receiving a Bachelors of Science degree. He continued his education at University of Iowa receiving a PhD in neuropsychology. Coming back to Chicago, he worked first at Northwestern University and then at Rush University Medical Center as Assistant Professor in the field of neurobiology research concentrating on cognitive aging, Alzheimers Disease and epilepsy. Dan and Patty married during his grad school years first living in Iowa and then moving back to Palos Heights. They have three wonderful children, Meara aged 16, Mike aged 14 and Shay aged 11 of which he is proud. Dan was very active in his community, engaged in coaching for basketball and soccer at St. Alexander, and soccer through AYSO as well as St. Alexander Church and School. He had a penchant for the gift of gab, Dad jokes and the long Irish goodbye. He had a larger than life personality and will leave a large void in the world community.
