Edward Donald Halleran, 81, of Palos Park, Illinois, died peacefully at home on August 4, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.
If there was an adventure to be had…Ed was always on board, no matter how crazy it seemed. After serving in the US Army, stationed at Wiesbaden Air Force Base, the adventure of marriage and raising 4 children was next on the list. Whether he was taking the kids on their newspaper route from the side car of his motorcycle, wrangling the horses in the backyard, or taking any brave volunteers (usually Eddie) for a ride in his Cessna airplane, life was all about the thrill! If you ever drove through Oak Lawn in the 80s and 90s, you may have seen his name in lights at one of the banquet halls he owned, advertising free honeymoons to Vegas for all that booked their reception with him. Later, pizza parlors were his thing, along with flipping houses, siding and gutters, rebuilding motorcycles, and just sitting in the sun watching the planes go by. Judo was his true passion. He earned his black belt and continued to attempt to instill the same discipline in his own children. Ed’s children and grandchildren have all had lessons in how to hambone, but nobody could get the mouth pop as well as Umpa!
Edward was preceded in death by his son, Edward Terrence; parents Annie and Michael; brothers Mike, Gene, and Jim; and many members of the “Clowns” who are all having a party with the newest member to join them on the other side.
