FRIDAY, SEPT. 11

Vehicle Stolen

A vehicle was reported stolen Sept. 11 in the area of Cherry Court, according to Palos Hills police reports.

The victim told police he had parked his vehicle in his driveway at about 7 p.m. Sept. 9, and he noticed it was gone Sept. 10, the report stated.

Obstruction

Wael Tomeh, 65, of Palos Hills, was arrested and charged him with obstruction after a Sept. 10 traffic accident, according to Palos Hills police reports.

At the scene of an accident at about 7 a.m., near 103rd Street and 81st Avenue, Tomeh gave police wrong information about how the crash happened, the report stated. But even when asked to correct his chain of events, Tomeh stood by his original version, the report added.

Police interviewed other witnesses and determined Tomeh was trying to hide what really happened, the report stated. Eventually, Tomeh confessed that he lied about the crash, the report added.

Tomeh’s court date is Oct. 28.

Driving with Revoked License

Mark Greathouse, 49, of West Chicago, was arrested and charged with felony driving with a revoked license, possession of marijuana and driving without insurance after a Sept. 10 traffic stop, according to Palos Hills police reports.

Police pulled over Greathouse at about 7:30 a.m., near 103rd Street and Roberts Road, after noticing the vehicle he was driving had an equipment violation, the report stated. A computer background check revealed Greathouse didn’t have a license, the report added.

During the stop, police also found a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana, the report stated.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 9

Fraudulent Checks

A Chase Bank customer claims checks with her forged name on them were used to steal more than $1,300 from her account, according to Palos Hills police reports.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 8

Confrontation at Junior Football Practice

A dispute between kids and parents during a Palos Stars junior football practice turned into a pushing match that got so out of hand that 911 was called, according to Palos Hills police reports.

Police were called at about 9 p.m. Sept. 8, concerning a disturbance in the 11400 block of South Southwest Highway, the report stated. When police arrived, adults and kids were playing the “blame game” over who was at fault for the shoving, according to the report.

Order was restored by police, and no one was cited at the time, the report stated. Juvenile officers are still investigating the incident, the report added.

The reason for the confrontation, as well as the number of people involved, was not mentioned in the report.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 5

Sweets Shop Burglarized

A glass door was shattered and a small amount of money stolen from the register of Selma Sweets, 7205 W. 103rd St., according to Palos Hills police reports.

The amount of money taken was not disclosed, and police are investigating, the report stated.

Felony Driving on Revoked License

Stanley Strama, 43, of Chicago Ridge, was arrested and charged with felony aggravated driving while revoked and driving without insurance after a Sept. 5 traffic stop, according to Palos Hills police reports.

Police pulled over Strama at about 6 p.m. for using his cell phone while driving westbound along 111th Street, near Roberts Road, the report stated. Strama admitted he was on the phone while driving, and he told police he didn’t have a driver’s license, the report added.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 4

DUI

Jerry Columbo, 33, of Oak Lawn, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit and aggravated speeding after a Sept. 4 traffic stop, according to Palos Hills police reports.

Police noticed Columbo speeding at about 4 a.m., as he travelled westbound in the 7800 block of 111th Street, the report stated. During the stop, Columbo’s eyes were red and glassy, and his speech was slurred, according to the report. He also failed field sobriety tests at the scene, the report added.

Columbo’s next court date is Oct. 6.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 3

Suspicious Individual

An official from the Green Hills Library reported a suspicious individual in a blue vehicle had been seen at the facility on two recent occasions, according to Palos Hills police reports.

A library patron told officials about the man, who reportedly waited outside for the visitor and left in the same direction, the report stated. There was no contact between the patron and the man, the report added.
