
Frank Albert Zagata of Palos Heights and Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home with his beloved brother, Joe, and his nephew, John, on October 10, 2023 at 10:59 PM.
Known as “Frankie” to his family, he was born on May 9, 1934 on the South Side of Chicago to Genevieve (Jurcziak) and John Zagata, Sr. He was the beloved husband for over 60 years to Antoinette “Toni” (Ekimovich) who preceded him in death in August 2021. Also preceding him in death were cherished sisters and spouses, Alvina/“Binka” (George) Wickey, Irene (Charles) Perrier, Stephka (Robert) Lecki, Alice (John) Proczek, Lorraine (Walter) Blum and brother, John Zagata, Jr., as well as
sister-in-law, Barbara (wife to brother, Joe). Without children of his own, he was a very proud Uncle and friend to many nieces and nephews.

Frank grew up in the “Back of the Yards” neighborhood where he attended Holy Trinity High School and then joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. Following his service, he drove a truck professionally, starting his career at Goldblatt’s Department Store.
Frankie’s greatest joys were his family and his close friends. He loved people and conversation. He was a great storyteller - always armed with a smile and a joke. His larger than life personality will be greatly missed by many.

Visitation Saturday, October 21st from 9 a.m. until time of chapel prayers 11 a.m. at the KERRY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CARE CENTER, 7020 W. 127th Street, Palos Heights proceeding to Saint Alexander Church, Mass 11:30 a.m.
