Fun Memories

Palos School District 118

I happen to be going down memory lane recently and came across some memorabilia that I thought I would share with you. On April 3, 2003, Sharon Brannigan (that would be me) chaired the Parent Faculty Association Annual Dinner and Fashion Show for District 118. The Odyssey Country Club in Tinley Park was the venue and theme was Meet Me at the Garden Gate. There was a cocktail reception with instant, special and grand prize raffles and Mike Caplan was the Master of Ceremonies. Dinner was served promptly at 7:00 pm and the PFA President at the time, Melissa Gracias announced the Welcome to All at 8:00 pm and the Fashion Show followed at 8:30 pm. There were dozens of volunteers who brought in hundreds of prizes. There were 600 guests and over $27,000 was raised 23 years ago this spring. It was a monumental task that involved massive coordination with all committees for this fundraiser. The committees were made up of moms of children from across school district 118. From retail stores granting access to their fashions to the computer and photography parent volunteer experts’ aspects as well as the advertising guru parents and every other detail for donations that were brought together to make this night memorable, I’m not sure if I’ve seen anything since that could compare except of course the Silent Auction for the district. It has been 23 years since this Fashion Show event. I was very proud to be chair this event and be a part of this extraordinary group of volunteers to raise funds for the children of School District 118.
