Funeral Friday for the Gentle Baker Who Brought You Lemon Fluff Cake
Jeffrey Lyon, owner of Wolf's Bakery in Evergreen Park, died Oct. 20. His funeral service is Friday at 12:30 p.m.

One of the sweetest men in Evergreen Park will be laid to rest Friday. Jeffrey Lyon, owner of Wolf’s Bakery, home of the beloved lemon fluff cake, died on Oct. 20 of cancer. Lyon bought the shop 23 years ago, and this year marks its 75th anniversary.
“He was a wonderful man to work for,” Joe Boehm told local columnist Donna Vickroy. “Just a super guy. Always willing to roll up his sleeves and help. We’d be in the middle of the Christmas season, and he’d come in, grab a bag and get to work on the cookies.”
The funeral service starts at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 7800 W. McCarthy Road, in Palos Heights. He will be interred at Chapel Hill Gardens South Cemetery. His wife Pam, sons Bill and Nick, brother Ham and sisters Ginger and Dana survive him.
