'Funny Money' Exchanged For iPhones In OfferUp Swap
The seller of two iPhones said he was handed over an envelope full of counterfeit money by the buyer, Palos Hills police said.
PALOS HILLS, IL — A Palos Hills man selling two iPhones got swindled by the buyer during their transaction.
According to a police report, the resident used his phone app, OfferUp, to sell two iPhones.
He was contacted by a potential buyer, who agreed on a price of $1,000. During the exchange, police said the buyer took the phones and handed over an envelope. The buyer then ran off on foot. When the seller opened the envelope, he realized he was handed counterfeit money.
