Green Hills Public Library District is Preparing to Reopen
Book drop and phone lines reopen; a new service called "Doorside Delivery" begins.

The Green Hills Public Library District plans to start phasing in services in June. Since the Library closed on March 13, staff have been providing virtual offerings through their website and social media channels. When devising this reopening plan, the Library has taken into consideration the guidance issued from public health authorities including CDC, OSHA, Illinois Department of Public Health, Cook County Health Department, or other public health authorities. It is the Library’s priority to maintain the health, safety, and well-being of staff and community members. In order to achieve this, every action taken will be carried out in a safe, effective manner to preserve the well-being of all.
Starting June 1, staff will reenter the building and start reintroducing services to the community, including opening the outdoor book drop on 103rd Street. Patrons are welcome to return materials at this time, however there is no rush. Materials have an extended due date of July 13 and the Library wants to ensure that staff can accommodate all incoming returns. If the book drop is full, the Library asks patrons to return at a later time. No overdue fines were assessed during the Library’s closure. Also starting June 1, staff will be available by email and phone during all hours of operation to answer questions. Patrons are encouraged to call the Library at 708-598-8446. Starting June 8, a new service called “Doorside Delivery” will begin for all community members.
An official date for reopening to the public has not been announced yet. More information on the Library’s reopening plans can be found online at greenhillslibrary.org/covid-19.
