Ground and Air Search Continues for Missing Chicago Man Near Palos

Possible sighting of missing Chicago man Saturday evening in Palos Park forest preserve turns up empty. Cops suspend ground and air search.

Searchers saturated an area near a Palos Park forest preserve on Saturday evening after someone reportedly sighted a missing Chicago man.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Police are leading the search for John Michael Cunningham Jr., 27, who has been missing since Thursday morning. Cunningham was last seen near a forest preserve area at 104th Street and McCarthy in Palos Park.

Various local police departments as well as tracking dogs are helping in the ground and air search that continued throughout the weekend.

Cunningham is reportedly from the North Side and is said to be suffering from depression. A police source told Patch that Cunningham had recently ended a relationship and works in a high-level job.

The missing Chicago man was reportedly sighted at 125 Post Road near Palos Park. Police combed the area around 10800 W. 123rd St. until the search was called off early Sunday morning, Palos Park Police Chief Joe Miller said.

Cook County Sheriff’s Police said that Cunningham was wearing a gray T-shirt and black sweatpants when he went missing. He may be lost in the forest preserve.
