Gun, Marlboros, Gloves Stolen In Rash of Thefts From Cars: Cops
Police investigate rash of thefts from mostly unlocked vehicles in Palos Hills, including a stolen handgun.
PALOS HILLS, IL — Palos Hills police arrested an 18-year-old man after he was observed looking into cars, reports said. Reno Giovanni McMahon, of Palos Hills, was cited for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.
Around 2 a.m. Oct. 23, officers saw McMahon allegedly peering inside cars in random driveways in the 10500 block of 80th Court. Police stopped McMahon a few blocks away, where they claim to have found two cartons of Marlboro cigarettes, cannabis, gloves, a flashlight and a knife in McMahon’s car.
The Marlboros had been reported stolen from an unlocked car in the area, police said. McMahon was cited for cannabis and drug paraphernalia. Police said the owner of the stolen cigarettes would not sign a criminal complaint.

Other thefts from vehicles were reported at 5:15 a.m. Oct. 21. Police were called to the 7900 block of 105th Street, where a wallet was reported stolen from a car. There were no signs of forced entry, reports said.
Over on the 10200 block of 81st Avenue, someone stole a handgun from the glovebox of an unlocked car, police said.

Police also investigated a reported criminal trespass to an unlocked car in the 7900 block of 107th Street. The vehicle owners told police their car had been rummaged through, but nothing appeared to be missing.
