Harlem Avenue Bridge Over Cal-Sag Channel Set For Repairs
Harlem Avenue bridge over the Cal-Sag Channel in Palos Heights will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting Aug. 12
PALOS HEIGHTS, IL —Repairs are expected to begin Monday, Aug. 12 — weather permitting — on the bridge carrying Harlem Avenue (Illinois 43) over the Cal-Sag Channel in Palos Heights. The bridge is scheduled for repairs to the structural steel and deck. The Illinois Department of Transportation said the work will require lane reductions with width restrictions.
In order to complete the work, Harlem Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction with a width restriction of 11 feet. The work is expected to be complete by the end of November.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
