Coronavirus Cases Rise In Palos Heights and Palos Hills

Coronavirus cases increase in Palos Heights and Palos Hills, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.

PALOS, IL — The Palos communities combined reported more COVID-19 infections than some of its neighbors, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.

A new surveillance map released by the health department tracks confirmed coronavirus cases by municipality across suburban Cook County. The map includes municipalities and portions of municipalities within suburban Cook, except for Chicago, Evanston, Oak Park, Skokie and Stickney Township, each of which has its own state-certified local health department.

As of March 31, there were a total of 1,645 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in suburban Cook County and 35 deaths. Twenty congregate settings, such as long term care facilities or nursing homes, are reporting one or more confirmed cases.

Confirmed COVID-19 increased from 11 to 16 in Palos Heights, and to 14 in Palos Hills, according to the health department's map. Palos Park had fewer than four.

Matteson leads the south suburbs with 47 coronavirus cases. Neighboring Orland Park and Oak Lawn recorded 30 cases, while Tinley Park reported 27. Alsip reported eight cases while Crestwood reported 5 COVID-19 cases. Oak Forest reported 19 and Lemont has 13 cases.
