Hickory Hills Police Department Seeks Lateral Transfer Officers
Hickory Hills Police Dept. offers a $78,895 starting salary, generous benefits and numerous opportunities for growth in a variety of roles.

HICKORY HILLS, IL — The Hickory Hills Police Department is now accepting applications for Lateral Police Officers. Interested officers must have at least two or more years of continuous full-time employment in civilian law enforcement in Illinois.
Hickory Hills is located in Chicago's southwest suburbs with a population of appoximately 14,000. The police department has 28 sworn officers who have the opportunity to train in a variety of specialty roles, such as detective, task force officer, accident reconstructionist, evidence technician, firearms instructor, field training officer, school resource officers and bike officers.
The Hickory Hills Police Department also works closely with neighboring communities and belongs to several multi-jurisdiction task forces, icluding the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, the Southwest Major Case Unit, major accident reconstruction team and the 5th District SWAT team. The department offers many opportunities for growth and training.

The lateral transfer position comes with a generous benefits package, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield (PPO and HMO available), along with a flexible spending account, dental, vision and life insurance programs, in addition to five weeks of vacation, plus three personal days and ten holidays.
Officer candidates must have been certified by the Illinois Police Training Board as a certified police officer and be in good standing with their current police department. Interested officers will be subject to a medical examination, physiological examination, psychological examination, polygraph examination, background investigation, and oral examination.

Lateral transfer officers are exempt from the written examination and P.O.W.E.R. test. A lateral transfer eligibility list will be established from the pool of eligible, certified candidates. Placement on the list, shall not be a factor in the appointive process. Applicants must meet all other requirements of a police officer.
Applicants will be removed from the list if they have been out of the profession for more than one year or a written notification is made to the Board of Fire & Police Commissioners by the applicant indicating their desire to be removed from the list.
Lateral police applications can be downloaded from the Hickory Hill Police Department website, or picked up in person at the police station, 8800 W. 87th St. or at the Hickory Hills City Hall, 8652 W. 95th St., Hickory Hills.
There is no deadline to apply. Lateral Police applications can be returned to the administration division of the Hickory Hills Police Department or emailed to executive assistant Eve Eenigenburg at ieenigenburg@hickoryhillspd.us
