Hometown Artist Kate Conroy returns for Palos Park Fine Art Fair
2017's People's Choice winner to show again at Palos Park's 'Love the 'Park' Art Fair- Saturday 5/19, and Sunday 5/20
Palos Park's 'Love The Park' Fine Art Fair will treat art lovers to an array of work by celebrated Palos Hills artist Kate Conroy, as well as 45+ other ceramic, jewelry, glass, and photography artists from not only across the state, but from across the country.
The art fair, to be held on Saturday May 19th, and Sunday May 20th, will include 30 paintings and more than 50 ink drawings by the artist whose works have been shown in galleries across the United States. Kate is an established artist who's work can be viewed on this year's "Love The Park" advertising pieces. Her work enthuses both young and old and has been praised by art critics as recently as last month where she was spotlighted and interviewed by the magazine Voyage Chicago.
Kate originally hails from the Southwest Side of Chicago, and although she has lived, and worked out of her studio in Palos Hills for more than two decades, still refers to herself as a "city chick" which can be viewed in her work, she feels her upbringing in Chicago has been more important for her art than the schooling she received while attending both Columbia College, and American Academy Of Art.
Her career has included shows in celebrated galleries such as the Old Courthouse Gallery in Woodstock, the Oak Park Art League Center, The Aurora History Museum of Colorado, and Light, Space, & Time Art Gallery in California.
Her style tends to be figurative with impressionistic touches. She is drawn to vivid, saturated color, which is represented in each and every one of her paintings. Kate is currently working with the impasto technique and creating strong yet feminine brushstrokes while maintaining a large amount of paint on the surface of the canvas.
Much of her work focuses on portraits and natural landscapes. She finds painting to be the most concise form of communication and the human form a rich arena in which to explore and express emotion, intention, and challenge.
