Improvements Planned for Roberts Road and 111th Street

A repave, turn lane, new Thornton gas station and other improvements are planned for Roberts Road and 111th Street intersection.

PALOS HILLS, IL —The Cook County Highway Department announced that it will be resurfacing Roberts Road in August. The intersection of Roberts Road and 111th Street will be improved with a new right turn lane for westbound traffic onto 115th Street, Mayor Gerald Bennett said in a letter to constituents.

New decorative gateway brick planter walls and paver pedestrian crosswalks will be added on all four corners, similar to the design in Orland Park at 143rd Street and LaGrange Road. The improves will take place in 2012, paid from federal, state and county motor fuel tax funds.

Residents can also expect to see construction begin sometime in July on a new Thornton gas station, will occupy three vacant lots on the northwest corner of the intersection at Roberts and 111th.
