Independence Junior High Boys Basketball Team Snags Conference Title

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — Cue up the anthem, “We Are The Champions.” Independence Junior High School’s eighth-grade boys basketball team won the South Suburban Junior High School Conference championship, defeating the Wilkins Vikings 40-33.

The Independence Patriots eighth-grade team also had a fantastic regular season, finishing first in the conference with a record of 14-1. Coached by Anthony Marinello, the team consisted of Tommy Begley, Jack Burke, Zach Cosme, Eamon Gayduk, Andrew Korolow, Danny McGovern,Marcus Monteclaro, Peter Primbas, Jake Salman, Lucas Scarnavack, Lucas Strang, and Ben Yerke.
