
Born July 5, 1933 to Charles G. Knoerr and Esther Behm Knoerr in Chicago, Illinois. He was also welcome by his older brother, Donald Knoerr.
Jim grew up in Chicago attending St. Peter’s Lutheran School, and Parker High School. During the Korean War Jim served in the Army, stationed at White Sands Missile Range. When he returned home he went to Union Carpentry School and becoming a Union Carpenter.
Jim met his future wife, Miriam I. Benton, at a Lutheran Koinonia gathering and fell in love. They married on May 23, 1964 at First Lutheran church of Berwyn, Illinois. They made their home in Palos Hills, Illinois in 1964 and were blessed with two sons; Paul James and Peter Jon. Peter married Christine Hansen and they blessed Jim with a grandson, Robert Jon. Jim loved his home and family and was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Willow Springs.

Winters during retirement were spent in Texas on the Gulf enjoy the beach and camping friends there. Here he developed and taught his wood carving skills.
On March 6, 2019 Jim went to his heavenly home to meet his Lord and Savior. Jim will be missed by his family, brother and sister in law; Donald and Jane Knoerr, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family & Friends will gather Saturday, March 23rd, Memorial Service 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church, 212 S. Nolton Avenue, Willow Springs, IL
Inurnment & Military Honors will take place at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL at a later date.
