Lantern Theatre Presents 'Mary Poppins' at Marist HS
Lantern Theatre performs the stage musical based on the beloved 1964 film at Marist High School's RedHawk Theater.

It’s going to be a jolly ‘oliday when the Lantern Theatre presents Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's stage musical Mary Poppins, based on the beloved 1964 film and P.L. Travers’ children’s novels.
Lantern Theatre is the first community theater group to undertake the ambitious stage production on the South Side. Housed and supported by Marist High School. Lantern’s productions are produced and performed entirely by Marist alumni, current students and faculty.
The goal of the theater company is provide a high-quality, innovative summer theater for the enjoyment of the South Side and its surrounding communities.

Mary Poppins includes the film’s Academy Award-winning music and lyrics by the brothers Robert and Richard Sherman, in addition to a variety of new musical numbers penned for the 204 stage adaptation of the film.
The story follows the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious musical adventures of everyone’s favorite practically perfect British nanny. The show features a multitude of performers from the South and Southwest suburbs, as well as the Beverly, Morgan Park and Mt. Greenwood communities.

Mary Poppins runs Thursday through Saturday, July 21 through July 23, at Marist High School’s RedHawk Theatre, 4200 W. 115th St., Chicago. Performances are at 7:30 p.m., with an addition 2:30 p.m. matinee on Saturday.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, which can be purchased at the door or online at the Marist High School website.
