Get in touch with your inner geek at the South Side Comic Book Show this Saturday, Sept. 17, at Shepard High School in Palos Heights.
PALOS HEIGHTS — Let your inner geek shine at the South Side Comic Book Show, back for the first time in two years, Saturday, Sept. 17. The show will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Shepard High School, 13049 S. Ridgeland, Palos Heights. Admission is $5; kids under 8 are free.
This year, the South Side Comic Book Show has moved to the Shepard High School gym. The show features over 100 vendors, the League of Enchantment cosplay group, door prizes, a cosplay contest and Kapow.
The show is produced by Alsip resident Rocky Sodin, who, when he's not sharing his love for comic books, works for the railroad. The Richards High School graduate has been collecting comic books for over 40 years, ever since he purchased his first Star Wars comic book in 1978 off the 7-Eleven rack. Sodin worked at his parents’ former comic book store – Blackbeard’s Cove – in Mount Greenwood, meeting various aspiring illustrators who are renowned in the comic book industry today.
