Cal City Man Charged In Summer Burglaries Of 2 Palos Hills Businesses

The Calumet City man was captured on video breaking into a pawn shop and mobile phone store on Aug. 18, Palos Hills police said.

PALOS HILLS, IL — A Calumet City man was arrested Dec. 30 on suspicion of burglarizing two Palos Hills businesses over the summer. Darius D. Scott, 32, is charged with two felony counts of burglary. Scott is currently on electronic monitoring.

During the overnight hours of Aug. 18, security video captured a man, later identified as Scott, breaking into two businesses, Palos Hills police said.

Scott is accused of prying open the door and entering a mobile phone store in the 7200 block of 103rd Street. According to the police report, the suspect captured on video didn’t take anything. Police said the owner of the business was uncooperative with the investigation.

About a mile-and-a-half away the same morning, police said Scott broke into a pawn shop in the 11200 block of Southwest Highway. Police said video captured Scott taking a PlayStation and leaving. At the time of the burglaries, it was not known if the incidents were related.
