PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — Residents are invited to step into the past this Saturday, Feb. 14, to meet early Chicago pioner Juliette Magill Kinzie, presented by the League of Women Voters Palos-Orland. The one-woman show starts at 10 a.m. at the Palos Heights Public Library, 12501 S. 71st Ave.
Part of the chapter’s “Democracy In America” series, the program begins with coffee and snacks at 9:30 a.m. at the Palos Heights Public Library, 12501 S. 71st Ave., followed by the one-woman performance, “The Wau-Bun A Travelouge With Juliette Kinzie.”
Juliette Magill married the famous Chicago fur trader and U.S. Indian sub-agent, John H. Kinzie, in 1830. He invited her to share with him the great adventure of a lifetime in the Northwest Territory. In the early 19th century, French voyageurs, fur trappers, British soldiers, American pioneers and Native Americans populated the wilderness of the Great Lakes. Celebrate the early days of the Midwestern frontier with writer, historian and pioneer Juliette Magill Kinzie.
