Preceded in death by his parents Jack and Marjorie Bonner. Dear brother of Jack (Caroline), the late Dennis (Linda), Brenda (Pete), and Margie (Mike). Kind uncle to many nieces and nephews. Mel was a retired electrician for Local 134. He was an exceptional tradesman,
extremely handy and a hard worker. He and Patty raised their boys in South Holland,
IL. until 1988. Mel had always wanted to build his own home and made that dream
a reality with the help of family and friends. They moved to Tinley Park, IL.
where he resided until his passing. Mel was very passionate for his sports
teams, especially the Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks. In his younger years he
played softball, basketball and bowled. Eventually he channeled his energy and
passion into coaching his sons in football and baseball. He influenced the
lives of many young men, on and off the field. Mel eventually found more time
(and money) to golf when his sons were grown. He loved to play a round with
family and friends any chance he could get. Golf provided many of his greatest
memories. Mel was fiercely loyal to his family and always there to help no
matter the time or place. He was a great friend to all who knew him and he will
be greatly missed.
