Memorial Day Observances Planned In Palos Communities
Memorial Day ceremonies and park decorations planned for Monday, May 30, in Palos Hills, Palos Heights and Palos Park.
PALOS, IL — The Palos area is planning Memorial Day events, which this year is observed on Monday, May 30.
The Village of Palos Park will hold a Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony on at 1 p.m. Residents will gather by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial on the village green located at 8901 West 123rd St. in Palos Park.
At 11 a.m., Palos Heights will hold a Memorial Day Service at Memorial Park, 7607 W College Drive.
Palos Hills Ald. Mike Lebarre (3rd Ward), is leading efforts to hang flags, banners and other handmade items at Volunteer Park, 99th Street and 88th Avenue. There will also be a remembrance board where residents can sign their names or pen a note of thanks to a family member that served or veterans in general. The display will be up May 26 through June 4.

"We're asking people to stop by and reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day," Lebarre said.
