Moraine Valley Announces 2017 Fall Concert Lineup
Moraine Valley students and community members present four free concerts featuring holidays selections, swing, funk and more this fall.

PALOS HILLS, IL -- Music ranging from holiday selections and soulful blues to classic swing, gritty funk and more will be featured during concerts performed this fall at Moraine Valley Community College’s Fine and Performing Arts Center (FPAC), 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills. The concerts are free and open to the public. All performances will take place in the Dorothy Menker Theater in the FPAC building.
The Moraine Valley Symphony Orchestra -- Comprised of student and community players, the ensemble performs a variety of orchestral literature from the Baroque to present day, Wednesday Nov. 29, 7:30 p.m.
88th Avenue Swing -- Enjoy an evening of Big Band standards, holiday favorites and more. The Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Douglass Bratt, explores a range styles, including music by Sonny Stitt, Randy Brecker, Ella Fitzgerald, John Coltrane, and Charles Mingus. Special guest will be vocalist Mona Roy. Friday, Dec. 1, 7:30 p.m.

The Moraine Valley Concert Band -- Get in a holiday mood with “Christmas Music and More.” The concert band offers an afternoon of delightful holiday selections and contemporary works, including “Concertino for Clarinet” featuring Moraine Valley faculty member Patrick Rehker. Sunday, Dec. 3, 3 p.m.
Moraine Valley Percussion Ensemble -- “A Night of Percussion” features everything from night themes to loud drums, gentle chorales to Led Zeppelin and musical chipmunks. The ensemble uses percussion instruments and sounds such as vibraphones, xylophones, drums, trash cans and cowbells. Thursday, Dec. 7, 7:30 p.m.
