Moraine Valley Church Hosts Inaugural Class

For most of his life, Ron Ovitt has a passion to serve others. A Pastor, counselor, author and recovery coach has dedicated his time to helping people break addictions and heal from trauma.

On Tuesday, October 8^th, Ovitt brings his experience and teaching in a free ongoing class to Moraine Valley Church in Palos Heights.

“I’ve been teaching this class for almost fifteen years,” Ovitt explains. “It’s a yearlong class, people can come anytime they would like. What I found is it’s hard to break habits and overcome emotional issues because their so well engraved in our brains.”

Ovitt has written seven books dealing with healing of emotions and addictions. He has designed a class called “Emotional Resilience” Living With The Fruit of the Spirit, that will be taught at Moraine Valley Church beginning Tuesday. Class begins at 7PM through 8:30PM, doors open at 6:30.

“A person that keeps coming back and over time they change” Ovitt adds. He has had many success stories helping people get over drug addictions (Ovitt has worked with heroin addicts) and healing from various traumas.

“Really this class is also a process of maturity” Ovitt said. “We major in childhood trauma as well. It influences us. We talk about regulating our emotions in this class, the combination of spirit and emotion really works.”

Ovitt has also helped homeless people get off the streets and live productively in society. The first class Ovitt started was at Calvary Church in Orland Park in 2005. ”I’ve had counselors and psychiatrists send their patients to the class and have had success. We’re grounded on good therapeutic practices along with the bible. It’s a good mix”

“We also work with people with anger, which can become chronic and residents just facing everyday struggles” Ovitt adds. “There’s a lot of hope in this class and we have a good time.”

The class will be held at: Moraine Valley Church located at 6300 W. 127^th Street in Palos Heights, Ill. Enter in the East door.
