Moraine Valley Hosts Car Show, Automotive Department Open House

Peruse classic cars from all eras, tour the automotive technology department and watch a drive-in movie Aug. 17. Event day entry available.

PALOS HILLS, IL — Moraine Valley Community College will host a car show and open house for its Automotive Technology Department, followed by a “drive-in” movie this Saturday, Aug. 17. Stock and modified cars from all decades will be parked in the lot next to Building T, east of the 111th Street entrance off the main campus, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills. The car show is free.

Spectators can peruse the cars from 5 to 8 p.m. Anyone interested in learning more about the automotive technology program at Moraine Valley can attend an open house in Building T, Room T600 from 4 to 6 p.m. Guests can tour the auto lab and classrooms, and talk to faculty and current students.

During the car show spectators will enjoy music, split-the-pot and drawings for prizes, and food vendors. The classic 1973 flick “American Graffiti” (rated PG) will be beamed onto a large inflatable screen next to the car show about 8:15 p.m. Guests can bring chairs, blankets and snacks.

Got some fresh wheels? Take advantage of the early bird discount by registering your car by Aug. 16 for $20. Registration the day of the show is $25. Proceeds will benefit scholarships for Moraine Valley’s Automotive Technology Department.
