Moraine Valley Hosts Humanity 5K Run, Walk, Kids Sprint This Sunday

Humanity 5K will raise money for Moraine Valley Community College scholarships and a dialysis center in Palestine Sunday, April 30.

PALOS HILLS, IL — Moraine Valley Community College and its Muslim Student Association (MSA) are partnering with The Refugee Life Foundation to host the Humanity 5K run, 1.5-mile walk and Kid’s Sprint. The run/walk starts at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 30, at Moraine Valley Community College, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills.

Participants can walk or run the chip-timed 5K (3.1 mile) path throughout the campus. Strollers are allowed. First place trophies will be awarded in gender and age categories for the run. The 100-yard Kid’s Dash will start at 10 a.m. for children 5 to 10 years old. All children will receive a participation award, with trophies going to top finishers.

Registration is $40 for the run or walk and $20 for any students with an I.D. The price will increase to $50 on April 29 for general registration. The Kid’s Sprint is $20.

This event culminates the final day of Arab American Heritage Month to celebrate diversity on campus, raise funds for scholarships for Moraine Valley refugee students and help build the first at-home dialysis clinic in Ramallah, Palestine. To register, visit Humanity 5K.
