Moraine Valley Presents Shakespeare’s ‘Winter’s Tale’ On The Quad
Moraine Valley Academic Theater players perform Shakespeare's The Winter Tale under the stars, July 19 through July 22.

PALOS HILLS, IL -- What better way to cool off on a hot summer evening than watching William Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale performed outside on Moraine Valley Community College’s beautiful quad. The Winter’s Tale is free. The play features actors from the Moraine Valley Academic Theater.
The Winter’s Tale is considered both a romance and comedy. The first two acts are filled with intense psychological drama, while Acts III and IV are lighthearted and have a happy ending. The play follows Polixenes, King of Bohemia, who has been on a nine-month visit to the court of his childhood friend Leontes, King of Sicilia, and his wife, Queen Hermione. Leontes becomes convinced that his heavily pregnant wife has been having an affair with Polixenes. He tries to persuade his most trusted courtier, Camillo, to poison Polixenes, but instead, convinced of the queen’s innocence, Camillo warns Polixenes and they depart for Bohemia together.
Performances are at 7 p.m. July 19, July 20 and July 21, with a 3 p.m. matinee July 22. The play will be staged outside on Moraine Valley’s Palos Hills campus at 9000 College Parkway.
