It's about to become a little bit colder in Palos Hills this week-end! Stagg Performing Arts Center is being transformed into the White Witches Ice Castle iin a few scenes for Narnia!
Spotlight Youth Theater presents a full production featuring costumes, sets and talented young actors from ages 8 through eighteen, as they enchant you with the story of the Pevensie children go through the wardrobe cabient to the land of Narnia.
One of the main characters, Lucy is played by a future Stagg student, Mimi Erickson of Palos Heights. " I've had a great time doing Narnia. I have cousins in Lake County Spotlight."
Shawn Erickson, Mimi's mom couldn't be prouder. " Mimi is excited to be able to perform at Stagg. She has done other community performances but really enjoys the depth and involvement of Spotlight."
As rehearsals have continued throughout the week, parents volunteer to do make-up, lighting, sets and any other job that comes with putting on a large scale production.
Another local Spotlight student, Jersie Jonia, 8 from Homer Glen is excited to be part of the White Witch evil crew. " I play one of the White witch's evil minions-a cruellie! I'm on the bad side, smirks Jersie. I get to wear crazy hair and dark make-up. I am the smallest in the group so I am on top of the tower during one of the dance numbers."
Most all the actors have an energy that brings electricity to the stage. To some this will be a step for bigger things.
Homer Glen resident, Neilly Joniak has truly become a theater mom. " If you have children, this is a great opportunity to show what theater is all about. The productions are top notch, with mics, sound, lights and a cool experience. It makes the kids feel like they are true stars."
All levels of talent will be featured at Narnia. From 8 year old Ruby Moxley to 18 year old Jack Stanaway, who portrays Aslan.
" I dream every single day of being a pop Star, says Jersie.I love theater and want to grow up to be a singer or actor. I can't wait for my next role," she adds. There is nothing else I would rather do!
