Nature Lovers Invited For Pyrography, Wine At Lake Katherine
Nature lovers will learn how to burn nature images on to reclaimed wood while sipping wine Feb. 27 at Lake Katherine Nature Center.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — Nature lovers will learn how to burn nature images onto reclaimed wood at a night of nature, art, and wine at Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanic Gardens on Wednesday, Feb. 27. Gareth Blakesley, the Palos Heights nature center’s director and chief naturalist, will introduce participants to pyrography, the art of wood burning, as they sip wine and enjoy art during a brand-new evening program
The event, which costs $30 per person, will take place from 7 to 9 p.m., with visitors getting creative as they sip wine and view pictures from local photographers. Materials and equipment, including nature scene stencils, will be provided.
“Art and nature are both immersive and have the ability to help us to reduce stress and focus on the now,” Blakesley said in a news release. “What better way to connect with nature than indulging your artistic side and working with reclaimed wood? We are excited to bring this new program to Lake Katherine.”
