NPD117 Receives "Exemplary" Rating from ISBE

Students Performing at High Levels

Dorn, Sorrick, Oak Ridge and Glen Oaks elementary schools received “Exemplary” ratings in the annual report card released by the Illinois State Board of Education. Conrady Junior High School received a "Commendable" rating, which is the second-highest rating a school can receive.

An “Exemplary” rating means a school has no underperforming student groups and is in the top 10 percent of schools in Illinois. A "Commendable" rating means a school has no underperforming student groups.

Elementary and junior high schools are evaluated on indicators that include English Language Arts proficiency, math proficiency, science proficiency, English learner progress to proficiency, chronic absenteeism, climate survey participation, ELA growth and math growth.

Out of more than 800 public school districts across the state, District 117 is the 2nd-highest district in math growth; 18th-highest district in ELA growth and 24th-highest district in ELA proficiency. District 117 also consistently maintains an EL Exit Rate that is more than double the rate above the state average.

“NPD117 is an incredible community. Our students’ individual achievements are the district’s number one priority,” said Supt. Jeannie Stachowiak. “During Professional Learning Communities, staff collaborate to create meaningful learning experiences based on student data.”

Supt. Stachowiak said the district is constantly looking for ways to teach, reteach, and enrich lessons for its students.

“We value the data that we receive from the IAR, ACCESS, and DLM assessments. These assessments measure what we do in our classrooms every day,” she said. “We are so proud of the students and their accomplishments and greatly appreciate our hardworking staff and supportive parents, Board of Education, and community. NPD117 is an amazing place to work, live, and raise a family. I am proud to be the Superintendent.”
