Dragana Aleksovski emigrated from Macedonia 20 years ago for a better life in the United States.
The Palos Hills' mother of two daughters ages 6 and 16 said she "knew very little English" when she arrived. "I asked a lot of questions of what things were and how you said them in English," she said. :"I also went to Moraine Valley College and took English (as a Second Language) classes at night. That helped me a lot."
Mrs. Aleksovski was among some two dozen parents who attended NPD117's fourth and final Snack & Chat in partnership with MVCC that provided EL parents with information on summer camps and programs for children to avoid summer learning loss.

The programs were run by the district's parent liaisons who have done a phenomenal job this year providing a variety of parenting classes that have been very well-attended.
Syreeta Brown, senior program manager and Liz Micheletti, program manager of MVCC's continuing education, shared many of the summer programs the college offers for both adults and students.
