Orland Park Man Accused of Vandalizing Bitcoin Machine

Palos Heights police said the business's security cameras caught the 23-year-old man spraying insulation foam into the Bitcoin ATM.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — An Orland Park man is accused of vandalizing a Bitcoin ATM in Palos Heights. Adham Issa, 23, is facing charges of criminal damage to property and possession of a controlled substance, both felonies.

Officers took a report Sept. 23 from a vendor that had a Bitcoin ATM damaged in the 13400 block of Ridgeland Avenue. Security video captured two men entering the business. One of the men, later identified as Issa, pulled out a canister and sprayed insulation foam into the voids of the ATM, police said.

Issa was arrested Oct. 14 on suspicion of criminal damage in a traffic stop, where police said he was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance. According to police, Issa confessed to damaging the ATM.
