Palos 118 School District Receives Meritorious Budget Award
The District has received the award for sound fiscal management for 18 consecutive years.

Palos School District 118 has received the Meritorious Budget Award from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO). The award follows a review of the district’s 2025-26 annual budget and reflects the “dedication to sound fiscal management and strong budgetary practices,” wrote James Rowan, CEO/Executive Director of ASBO in a letter to the district.
District 118 Superintendent of Schools Dr. Anthony Scarsella commended Chief School Business Official, Justin Veihman, and the District 118 business office for achieving the award for 18 consecutive years.
“This recognition from IASBO underscores our belief that transparency matters. We are proud to present our budget in a way that is thoughtful, accessible, and clearly connected to the priorities of our students, staff, and community,” said Dr. Scarsella.

Justin Veihman, Chief School Business Official for District 118 recognized the business office staff at the district’s Central Office for their commitment to consistent, accurate, and timely financial reporting.
“This is a well-deserved recognition of their hard work and dedication,” he said.
