Palos 118 Welcomes New Principal at West Elementary School

Palos School District 118 is welcoming Joel Dukett as the new principal at Palos West Elementary School in Palos Park for the 2026-27 school year which starts August 19.

Mr. Dukett has 10 years of experience in the field of education including leadership roles in school psychology, special education, and school administration. He most recently served as an Assistant Principal in Berwyn South District 100.

Mr. Dukett holds a Specialist in Educational Leadership degree from National Louis University, a Specialist in School Psychology from Illinois State University, and a Masters of Clinical-Counseling Psychology from Illinois State University. He is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NASP) and has a certification in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.

“I believe every child deserves to walk into school each day feeling known, supported, and excited to learn. As a parent and educator, I know how much trust you place in us each day. As the new principal of Palos West, I'm honored to partner with our families and staff to build a community where curiosity is celebrated and every student feels they belong.
