Palos Area Cooling Centers Open During Extreme Heat

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch for the weekend prompting the opening of Palos-area cooling centers.

PALOS, IL -- It's going to be a scorcher this weekend, with a dangerous combination of heat and humidity predicted for the Chicago area. Temperatures are expected to soar into the upper 90s Saturday morning through Monday evening. With the heat index, it could feel like more than 100 degrees. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch for the area.

Please check on elderly and disabled family members and neighbors. If you think a relative or neighbor might be in danger, or notice someone in trouble in the public way, call 911 and request a well being check. Watch your kids and don’t leave pets in the car.
