Palos-Area Schools Announce E-Learning Friday Ahead Of Extreme Cold: UPDATED 1X

PALOS, IL — With wind chills expected to dip below -35 degrees before zero on Friday, school districts are starting to call remote learning and/or delayed openings in advance of the Arctic chill descending upon the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.

The dangerous cold begins Thursday night into Friday morning, and bitter cold will continue through the weekend, the weather service said.

Patch will be updating this list throughout the day as closures roll in for schools, colleges, daycare, religious, business and government offices, for Friday, Jan. 23:

• CHSD 218 (Richards, Shepard, Eisenhower) - closed, e-learning; all after-school home athletic events and activities have been canceled for Tuesday.
• CCSD 230 (Stagg, Andrew, Sandburg_ - Closed, e-learning; see the D230 website for instructions.
• Palos Dist #118 - closed, e-learning
• Palos Heights Dist #128 - e-learning
• North Palos Dist. 117 - No school, no e-learning
• St. Alexander School - No school, e-learning
