PALOS, IL—The corn is popping at Palos Baseball Organization’s Double Good pop-up popcorn store. PBO is trying to raise $45,000 for the youth recreational league. The online fundraiser goes through June 5.

Carmel-diem, In Queso Fire, Easy Peasy Cheesy, Holly-Peno, Sergeant Salt and Pepper and good old-fashioned Butter Believe are just a few of the blends PBO is selling. Sets can be purchased ranging from $22 all the way up to $229 for the ultimate Popcorn Palace Party Park for maximum snacking and sharing. Fifty percent of purchases go to the kids.

Palos Baseball Organization is one of the last remaining robust recreational baseball programs in the area, with approximately 600 players from pre-K to 8th grade comprised of players from the Palos area. PBO also offers a part-time travel program for the players that play in our recreational baseball league.

“Full-time travel teams have exploded over the years, and recreational baseball programs have shuttered or have experienced significant declines throughout the area,” PBO secretary Brian Burke said in an email to Patch. “Our secret sauce is our commitment to recreational baseball, and by giving players options to play part-time travel baseball while still participating in our recreational season, it has worked well for our organization. Our players that play on the part-time travel teams actually enjoy the recreational baseball program more because they play against their friends from the neighborhood, school, etc.”

Last year, the youth sports organization raised $38,470, and in 2024, it raised $41,756. Palos Baseball Organization is setting its sights on $45,000.

Palos Baseball Organization is partnering with Double Good in an online popcorn pop-up fundraiser. | Double Good

Double Good is an easy online fundraising platform that empowers schools, youth sports and community organizations to run short, high-impact fundraisers entirely online, from setup to purchase to fulfillment. Organizations keep 50 percent of every sale, while Double Good handles payments, paperwork, order fulfillment and direct shipping. This takes the stress off organizers to focus on engaging supporters instead of managing logistics like inventory, cash collection or selling door-to-door. (There are also no fees or minimums.)

Palos Baseball Organization’s online pop-up will be taking orders until 3 p.m. June 5. Buy some popcorn at the Double Good PBO Popcorn Pop-Up Store. Let’s get popping!
