Palos Communities Open Cooling Centers As Temperatures Soar

Here's some information to survive the week's excessive heat watch in Palos, including cooling centers and where to report a power outage.

PALOS, IL — Police in the three Paloses remind residents to take extra precautions and stay on top of weather-related conditions during the week as temperatures are expected to reach dangerous levels this week.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning in effect through Wednesday evening. Temperatures are expected to climb to 100 degrees. Heat index values up to 115 are possible on Wednesday.

The combination of high temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat-related illnesses are possible. Expect afternoon highs in the mid to up 90s and low 80s in the evening.
