Palos Fine Arts Offering Scholarships To Students In D218 And D230

Palos Fine Arts is offering $1,000 scholarships to juniors and seniors in theater, music, visual arts, creative writing and dance.

PALOS PARK, IL — Palos Fine Arts is offering multiple awards of $1,000 each to high school students in their junior or senior year who reside within the bounds of high school Dist. 230 or Dist. 218. This includes students who attend private high schools, but reside within these districts.

Fine arts scholarships will be offered in the areas of theater, music, visual arts, creative writing and dance. Scholarships must be used to further the student’s education in the arts.

Applications can be downloaded from Palos Fine Arts and should consist of an essay or 1,000 words or fewer, including the following:

  • WHO you are – a brief history
  • WHAT are your goals for this educational experience
  • WHEN will the class or workshop be held
  • WHERE will the class or workshop be held
  • WHY are you motivated to attend the class or workshop
  • AREA OF INTEREST: Creative Writing, Dance, Music Theater, Visual Arts

The application MUST present evidence of applicant’s art material (including but not limited to online submissions, tapes and artwork) to be reviewed by the scholarship committee. Materials will not be returned. The deadline to apply is April 7.

The application must also include a short statement regarding the student’s talent, work ethic, or future academic plans from the department head, instructor or guidance counselor at the student’s high school. The application and release form must be complete.
