Palos Girl Picked For All-American Softball Team
Daphne Galason was the only Chicago-area player who qualified in the USSSA 9 and under division.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL - A 9-year-old girl from Palos Heights was the only fastpitch softball player from the Chicago-Metro area in her age group to be selected to the All-American Team as a Direct Select (Highest Honors) for the 2018 USSSA Elite Select All-American Team's 9U Division. Daphne Galason will compete in the All-American Games in Viera, Florida in late July with against the best players in the country.
Galason, who developed her love of fastpitch softball by playing in the Palos Power Girls Softball program for five seasons, plays for the Orland Park A's and has been invited to join the Indiana Magic Gold 9U, one of the toughest teams in the Midwest in the late summer to assist "IMG08" as they try to win the 9 and under division title in the United States Specialty Sports Association National Championship in Branson, Missouri in mid-July.
Galason earned an invite to be on the All-American Team after trying out in one of the USSSA's eight national regions. As the only Chicago-area player selected in her age group, she was joined by others from Springfield, Illinois, the Quad Cities, St. Louis and the Indianapolis-area as elite players chosen from The Great Lakes region.
