Voters Will Have Final Say in Proposed Palos Heights Rec Center Expansion
Are you for or against the proposed $6.3 million renovation to the Palos Heights Rec Center?

A proposed $6.3 million overhaul and expansion to the Palos Heights Recreation Center will be in the hands of voters Tuesday.
With voters’ approval, the city would issue general obligation bonds to fund the project. The estimated cost per year for Palos Heights taxpayers would be $30 per $100,000 of a home’s market value, or about $100 for a $330,000 home.

Shall bonds in the amount of $6,300,000.00 be issued by the City of Palos Heights, Cook County, Illinois, for the purpose of renovating existing recreation facilities and build an addition thereto, bearing interest at the rate not to exceed the greater of 9% per annum or 125% of the rate for the most recent date shown in the 20 G.O. Bonds Index of average municipal bond yields as published in the most recent edition of The Bond Buyer, published in New York, New York, at the time the contract is made for the sale of said bonds?
Renovations would include a multipurpose/banquet room with an instructional kitchen in place of the current gym, space for a teen center, a pre-school area and multi-purpose community rooms and extra parking. The new recreation space, located adjacent to the existing building, will include a multipurpose gym, locker rooms and restrooms on the lower level. On the upper level, there would be a three-lane walking/jogging track, a wellness center with exercise equipment and a lounge.
