Palos Hills Recognized as Top Safe City to Live

Named one of Illinois' top 10 safest and most peaceful places to live.

Palos Hills has been named one of the safest and most peaceful places to live in Illinois by website OnlyInYourState.

“Once a small farming community, Palos Hills has continued to expand into a bustling town that is great to raise kids,” writes OnlyInYourState. “Officers work with the community and kids in school in order to prevent crime.”

Under the leadership of police chief Paul Madigan, the Palos Hills Police Department works closely to ensure the safety of all citizens of Palos Hills.

“Twenty-three years ago, my main focus was on crimes against senior citizens and our youth,” said Chief Madigan. “We initiated a program to use seized drug money to support programs that combat crimes targeting those two groups.”

The residents of Palos Hills are served by the dedicated men and women of the Palos Hills Police Department.

“Our patrol division is proactive in aggressive patrol tactics to strip drug dealers and con men who prey on our citizens,” said Madigan. “Our detectives’ division is responsible for numerous arrests of drug dealers as well as con men who have committed crimes in Palos Hills.

“Through the outstanding work of all our police personnel, we have been successful in keeping the crime rate very low considering the volume of crimes being committed throughout the Chicagoland area.”

Adds long time mayor Gerald Bennett, “The residents in town are what make Palos Hills a great place to live and work. I am honored to receive such a recognition and would like to thank the citizens and police department of Palos Hills for everything they do.”
