Palos Hills Resident Loses $26,500 Responding To Fraudulent Text

The Palos Hills resident clicked on the link thinking they were wiring money to Bank of America, reports said.

PALOS HILLS, IL — A Palos Hills resident was swindled out of thousands of dollars by responding to a text message thinking it was from their bank, Palos Hills police reports said.

Officers responded to the 10400 block of 75th Avenue for a deceptive practices report. The resident told police that on Sept. 28, they received a text from the Bank of America fraud department.

Police said the resident clicked on the link thinking it was the bank and wired $26,500 to another person’s account. The incident is under investigation.
