Palos Park Accepting Applications for Part-Time Police Officers
Part-time officers will work primarily evening and night shifts. Deadline to apply is April 7, 2017.

PALOS PARK, IL -- The Palos Park Police Department is currently accepting applications from qualified individuals for the position of part-time police officer. This is a full-service patrol position, primarily evenings, nights, holidays and weekends to augment the force’s full-time sworn officers.
Part-time Palos Park officers are hired to work the night shift and especially cover vacant shifts for full time officers in training, on vacation or requesting a day off.
“This is a key position in our organization and without hesitation we require that you be mentally and physical prepared to work primarily night shifts,” the police department stated.

Candidates must be physically and mentally prepared to help those in crisis, desire to have a sense of accomplishment at the end of the shift, view themselves as role models for the community, and have integrity and empathy, along with excellent communication skills.

Palos Park has a population of $4,980. The starting salary is $19.50 per hour. The deadline to apply is April 7, 2017.
The Palos Park Police Department offers a variety of training, special assignments and professional development. Candidates are required to be flexible and available to work 24/7, 365 days a year.
Candidates must meet the minimum requirements:
•21 years of age
•High school graduate (College coursework in Criminal / Social Justice)
•Good moral character
•Good mental and physical condition
•No felony or domestic violence convictions
•Graduate of (full-time) Basic Law Enforcement Academy Training or PEP/STTAR program
• Currently employed in law enforcement and / or separated from a law enforcement agency in good standing preferred.
All qualified applicants will be required to pass a thorough background investigation, multi-tiered interview process and a pre-employment drug screening / physical.
