Palos Park 'Coffee With A Cup' To Focus On 'Stop The Bleed' Campaign

Join Palos Park police for "Coffee With A Cop" and learn lifesaving skills Monday, May 15, at the police station.

PALOS PARK, IL — Grab some java and learn some lifesaving skills at the same time by joining Palos Park police for “Coffee With A Cop,” Monday, May 15. The presentation starts at 7 p.m. at the Palos Park Police Department, 8999 W. 12rd St.

This month’s “Coffee With A Cop” combines with Stop The Bleed, a national awareness campaign that trains the public to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.

Investigator Ross Chibe, of the Palos Park Police Department, is a certified instructor in teaching the national course. Chibe will teach three quick actions to help save a life before someone bleeds out. Residents will learn how to apply proper pressure, correctly pack wounds and place a tourniquet.

The American College of Surgeons Stop the Bleed campaign has trained worldwide, including students, teachers, and community groups. The national awareness campaign aims to make our nation more resilient by better preparing the public to save lives if people are severely bleeding nearby.” The goal of the program is to train 200 million people.
