Palos Park Cops Offers Rides to Partiers on Super Bowl Sunday

If you've had too much to drink during the big game, Palos Park cops will pick you up and get you home safe on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 4.

PALOS PARK, IL -- Palos Park police are encouraging residents to make this a safe Super Bowl weekend by not drinking and driving when the New England Patriots take on the Philadelphia Eagles Feb. 4. Next to New Year's Eve and the Fourth of July, Super Bowl Sunday is one of the biggest drinking days of the year. Chief Joe Miller, of the Palos Park Police Department, encourages everyone planning to attend parties or hanging out at their favorite watering hole to have a game plan for getting home safe.

Police are always on the alert Super Bowl weekend for a spike in unsafe and impaired drivers. If you are in Palos Park and have had too much to drink, call Palos Park police at 708-448-2191. A friendly officer will come pick you up and drive you home -- no questions asked and no lectures about the perils of demon rum. You can also call Chief Miller on his personal cell number, 708-259-1035. The police chief will get a ride out to you.

“We'll come get you whether you're at a private home or bar. Officers will drive revelers directly home, but not to another party or bar,” Chief Miller said. “If someone is impaired and needs a ride, we would much rather have them call us, than get behind the wheel and get into an accident.”

So don't ruin the big game by making a super colossal mistake driving home drunk. Designate a non-drinking driver, call a taxi or ride sharing service, like Uber or Lyft. Your driver will appreciate the tip. If you feel you’re too impaired to drive home, stay where you’re at until you’ve sobered up.

Local bar and restaurant owners are being advised to be on the lookout for drunk patrons and not to over serve their customers. Party hosts should also prepare plenty of snacks and have non-alcoholic beverages on hand for their guests. Should someone drive home impaired from your business or home and get into a wreck, you too could be held liable.
