Palos Park Lemonade Stand Will Raise Funds for the Developmentally Disabled

'Molly Browne Lemonade Stand' is legendary, and funds raised go to Misericordia, an organization for helping the developmentally disabled.

You’ve sipped from cups at plenty of lemonade stands this summer. But have you ever heard of a lemonade stand collecting $17,000? And then donating that money to charity? The Annual Molly Browne Gallagher Lemonade Stand is doing just that.

The Browne Gallaghers and friends have raised an incredible amount of funds for Misericordia (more than $50,000 total) since 2009. With a change in venue from their former block in Beverly, the family carries on the legendary lemonade stand near their new home in Palos Park.

The 6th Annual Molly Browne Gallagher Lemonade Stand will be Sunday, August 16 from 12 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 12640 Wisteria Ct. in Palos Park.

In 2008, Molly Browne Gallagher was born with Down Syndrome. As Molly’s first birthday approached in 2009, her siblings wanted to do something special to celebrate. They hosted a lemonade stand with freeze pops and brownies, raising $250. They donated all the funds raised to Misericordia, an organization that assists in maximizing the potential for persons with mild to profound developmental disabilities and provides support for their families.

This year’s event includes lemonade, a bake sale, over 50 raffle prizes, an iPad raffle, snow cones and popcorn, Lulu’s lollipops, an arts and crafts table, and face painting. The event is dedicated to Lulu Schultz, who died just four weeks after her birth.
