PALOS PARK, IL — Palos Park police are taking an informational approach to National Night Out week by showcasing its anti-crime partnerships with the community, including Explorer Cadets, Citizens on Patrol (COPS)l, “You Are Not Alone” and Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT).

“We have to come up with different approaches to National Night Out,” said Chief Joe Miller, of the Palos Park Police Department. “We’re a small community. We can’t compete with someone jumping out of a helicopter.”

Police and village officials will host a free luncheon for Palos Park residents starting at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club, 12200 Archer Ave., Palos Park. No RSVP is necessary.

“Residents are concerned about cashless bail starting Sept. 18,” Chief Miller told Patch. “There has been a rise in crime in the southwest suburbs and drag racing.”
